The Department of Anatomy in collaboration with Medical Educational Unit organized plantation ceremony titled “Roots & Shoots - வேர்களும் தளிர்களும்” on behalf of World Nature Conservation Day. Several events such as photography competition as Picture Perfect, short video competition as Leafy Visuals, poetry competition as Plantation Poetic Duel, cooking without fire as Flameless Food Fiesta, Doll Design Character, leaf crafting as Leaf Sculpting, leaves collection as Leaves Hunt. Prior to the inauguration students displayed their culinary and all their artworks to the Chairperson followed with Flashmob by students.

The inauguration began with a lamp-lighting ceremony, welcome address given by Prof. Dr. D.H. Gopalan, Professor and Head of the department, a message from the chairperson Prof. Dr. Mala mam, the Dean, Prof. Dr. J. Muthukumaran, medical Superiendent Prof. Dr. Jayakumar. The dignitaries planted saplings. In addition all 150 students of 1st year brought saplings and they pledged to take care of them throughout their college period. Plants were given in return for all the dignitaries and the judges of the event. The glimpse of the event, photo competition, video of leafy visuals was displayed to audience. Winner and Runner of Poetry competition expressed their artworks. Winners and Runners of all the events were awarded with cash prizes, certificates and momentos. Vote of thanks delivered by student Ms. Sweeha. The whole program emphasized on its theme “Unite and Cultivate: Join us for an EPIC plantation ceremony”
