The Dept of Community Medicine along with NSS Unit & YRC Unit of TMCH and Good life Community College & allied health sciences, Kelambakkam conducted an 'Organ Donation' awareness rally on 13th August 2024 in the OMR, kelambakkam covering a distance of 2 km. A total of 100 students including CRMIs, Community Medicine postgraduates participated in the rally. Dr. A. Vikram, Associate Professor and Dr.G.Harish, Assistant Professor, Community medicine department participated in the rally on behalf of the department of Community Medicine .

The Department of Community Medicine along with NSS Unit and YRC members of TMCH conducted an awareness rally on 12th July 2024 commemorating World Population Day 2024. The rally started from Tagore Engg college and ended at TMCH. Slogans emphasizing the need for population control were raised by students during the rally. A total of 50 students, CRMIs and Teaching faculty participated in the rally.

Department of community medicine conducted a diabetic health awareness session under the supervision of Dr.A.Balaji, HOD& professor and Dr.Karthik, Asst. professor at sreevashtha Vivekananda senior higher secondary school on 19-10-19. Dr.A. Balaji gave overview about Diabetes and its complication and life style modifications. Total no. of beneficiaries-84.

2. Rural health training centre, Dept. of Community Medicine conducted dengue awareness programme among self help group women in two various places respectively Tiruporur and kelambakkam on 26-10-19. Dr.Radhakrishnan A, Asst.Professor has given awareness about signs and symptoms of dengue and how to prevent that.

Department of Community Medicine has conducted SwachhtaPakhwada 2019- Sep 1 to 15(A central government initiative under Ministry of Human Resource Development, as a part of SWACHH BHARAT MISSIONin both the urban and rural health centres and in the field practice area.

3.Dept. of Community medicine has conducted oral cavity screening programme among the construction workers at Akshaya construction site, kelambakkam on 12-09-19. Dr.Mahesh oral pathologist from Tagore dental college gave hands on training to CRRIs for sample collection.

6. To celebrate the 1st anniversary of PMJAY, Ayushman Bharat scheme a walkathon was organized by Governmat of Tamil NaduinElliots Beach, Adyar Chennai. Tagore Medical college 2nd year students of 140 students actively participated in a 5 km Walkathon. Dr.GaneshSA , Associate professor coordinated and accompanied the students.

State Level Essay Competition

S.Divyadharshini of 112 batch have bagged second prize in state level essay writing competition on World Health Day theme “Depression Let’s Talk” conducted by Indian Medical Association, Tamilnadu on 8th July 2017. She was awarded with a certificate of achievement, a pendrive and cash prize of Rs.5,000. She received the prize from Dr.Vijaya Baskar, Hon’ble Health minister of Tamilnadu and Dr.Radhakrishnan, Hon’ble Health Secretary of Tamilnadu. The student was trained and motivated by the department of community medicine.

A. Afrin Khanam, J. Antony Eniga, MS. Ashik Ali of 112 Batch have secured 3rd place in “Inter collegiate Inter State Quiz Competition titled Swachh Bharat” conducted by Saveetha Medical College on 07th July 2017.They were awarded with certificate of achievement , Medal and three medical text book.

They competed with students of 24 medical colleges from various part of India. Preliminary round was conducted and our students emerged as the first team to qualify for final quiz with maximum marks. The students were trained and motivated by the department of community medicine.

A LARGE SCALE (RBSK) RASHTRIYA BAL SWASTHYA KARYAKARAM – FIRST OF ITS KIND

Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK) is an important initiative aiming at early identification and early intervention for children from birth to 18 years to cover 4 ‘D’s viz. Defects at birth, Deficiencies, Diseases, Development delays including disability.
