The laboratory has three sections viz., Biochemistry, Microbiology and Pathology
The Microbiology section of Central laboratory has various facilities to handle the specimens related to infectious diseases. It has various divisions viz., Bacteriology, Virology, Serology, Immunology, Mycology and Parasitology. The Virology laboratory has molecular diagnostic facilities and has been accredited by NABL and approved by ICMR. The Department strives to provide the accurate results complying with the turn around time (TAT) which help in giving timely treatment to the patients. The Department has EQAS in place and performs strict internal and external quality assessment to maintain the quality of the laboratory. The Microbiology section has highly qualified and dedicated faculty members working round the clock.
Culture and antimicrobial susceptibility testing are offered for bacterial and fungal infections. Facilities for advanced identification of microbes is available.
We offer services to diagnose - Dengue, Leptospirosis, Enteric fever, blood borne viral infection panel (HIV,HBV,HCV,SYPHILIS), parasitic diseases, Mycobacterial disease (TB & Leprosy) and all other bacterial & fungal infections.
Real time Polymerase chain reaction (rPCR) facility is now the need of hour in this Covid-19 pandemic. The Molecular facility of our Clinical Virology Laboratory caters the need of patients for the diagnosis of Covid-19. It has the facility to perform Real Time Reverse transcriptase PCR and Rapid Antigen Test for Covid-19.
The laboratory has been established as per ICMR guidelines and accredited by National Accreditation Board for Testing & Calibration Laboratories (NABL), a Constituent Board of Quality Council of India.
The laboratory is well equipped with advanced calibrated equipments with cutting-edge technology such as Real Time PCR machine, Biosafety cabinets class IIA2, -80°C deep freezer, -20°C deep freezer, Cold centrifuge etc. The laboratory is taken care by highly qualified faculties. The RT PCR is fully automated and the results are generated in the form of graphs which are analysed by experts to interpret the results. The laboratory always strives to deliver accurate results on time to the patients.
