The Department of Anatomy organized a Continuing Medical Education (CME) programme on the topic “When Development Goes Wrong: Decoding Congenital Anomalies of the Gastrointestinal Tract and Genitourinary System.”
`The First session, “Congenital Anomalies of the Gastrointestinal Tract: Embryological Basis and Clinical Correlation,” was presented by Dr. Padma Kannan, M.S., Clinical Assistant, GI and HPB Surgery, Hinduja Hospital, Mumbai. The speaker elaborated on various gastrointestinal malformations, emphasizing their developmental origins and clinical significance.
The second session on “Congenital Anomalies of the Urogenital System: Embryological Basis and Clinical Correlation” was delivered by Dr. R. Senthamizh, M.S., Assistant Professor, Department of General Surgery, Government Tiruvannamalai Medical College. The talk highlighted key urogenital anomalies with relevant embryological explanations and clinical perspectives.
The CME programme was highly informative and beneficial for undergraduate and postgraduate students as well as faculty members. Active interaction and discussion throughout the sessions enhanced the understanding of developmental anatomy and its clinical relevance.
