Cracking the Code: A Guide to Medical Genetics for Health Care Professionals
The Department of Anatomy, in collaboration with the Medical Education Unit, Tagore Medical College & Hospital, organized a Guest Lecture on "Cracking the Code: A Guide to Medical Genetics for Health Care Professionals" on 15 June 2026 from 8:30 AM to 10:00 AM at Lecture Hall 3, Third Floor, TMCH. The session was conducted by Dr. C. Bhuvaneshwari, M.Sc., Ph.D., Professor, Panimalar Medical College Hospital & Research Institute.
The objective of the guest lecture was to enhance the understanding of medical genetics among healthcare professionals and students by introducing fundamental concepts, recent advances, and the clinical relevance of genetics in modern medical practice. The resource person explained various aspects of genetic disorders, patterns of inheritance, genetic counselling, molecular diagnostic techniques, and the role of genetics in precision medicine. The lecture also emphasized the importance of integrating genetic knowledge into patient care and clinical decision-making.The lecture significantly strengthened the participants' understanding of emerging concepts in medical genetics and highlighted the importance of continuous learning in this rapidly evolving field.The programme concluded with a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the management, the Medical Education Unit, the invited speaker, faculty members, and students for their valuable support and active participation, which contributed to the successful conduct of the event.
