Department

We, the department of General Surgery in the prestigious institution of Tagore Medical College have a strong qualified faculty comprising of Professors, Associate Professors, Assistant Professors, Senior Residents & Junior Residents. We have a nicely equipped outpatient department to cater hundreds of patients every day. Endoscopy & minor operative procedures are done on a day-care basis. The department has got 150 beds, occupying a complete floor in the hospital. We have a fully equipped theatre complex which has a surgical ICU & Post operative ward. Demonstration rooms & Class rooms are available both in the OP and Wards for the benefit of students. CMEs, Seminars, Symposiums, Guest Lectures, Vertical Integration Programmes and Journal Clubs are conducted almost every month for the academic benefit of both students & faculty. Our Head of the Department is Professor A.Periasamy, a veteran surgeon retired from premier institute of Madras Medical College is a great teacher & Skillful Surgeon. He is amply supported by his faculty. Open general surgical procedures & laproscopic procedures are being performed every day. Surgical speciality OPs are also run every day by super specialists.
