We in paediatric department handle the health needs of the most precious treasures of every family, the future citizens of our world- CHILDREN. Children, who are not just ‘mini-adults’, need unique medical concern and here we ensure round the clock availability of pediatricians to do so.
Our Out- Patient Department functions daily to attend the children, where efficient triage is done to classify the children whether to provide treatment on Out-Patient or In-Patient basis. An evening clinic is run daily in favor of the working parents/ care-takers.
We have a well-equipped and maintained immunization cell, where-in vaccines as per the Indian National Immunization Schedule and IAP immunization schedule are available. Vaccination is done on all days.
All the deliveries- Normal and Caesarean- are attended by a pediatrician and the first breath of the newborn babies never go unwatched.
Completely equipped Pediatric wards, Fully functional Pediatric and Neonatal Intensive Care Units are available.
Every aspect of the paediatric health care, such as Paediatric Cardiology, Paediatric Neurology etc. is taken care of with the help of visiting specialists
We run Pediatric clinic every week at Chromepet Urban Health Centre and Kelambakkam Rural Health Centre attached to our institution.

The Department of Paediatrics under the aegis of the management of Tagore Medical College and Hospital conducted a CME and Hands on training session on Newborn Resuscitation on 17.02.2021 between 9.00am to 3.00 pm.
All participants were administered a pre-test before the start of the scientific session. Dr. Ramamani (Professor, TMCH) introduced the guest speakers-Dr.Rahul Yadav, Lead Consultant & Neonatologist, Rainbow Children’s Hospital, Chennai and Dr. S. Arun kumar, Consultant & Neonatologist, Rainbow Children’s hospital, Chennai.
The CME was formally inaugurated by the Dean Dr. Gunasekaran, Medical Director Dr. Kumudha Lingaraj and Medical Superintendent Dr. Sivaprakasam. After invocation to the almighty, the dignitaries lit the Kuthuvilakku. The welcome note was given by Dr. Jaishree (HOD, Department of Paediatrics, TMCH) which was followed by inaugural address given by Dean Dr. Gunasekaran and welcome address given by MS Dr. Sivaprakasam and Medical Director Dr. Kumudha Lingaraj. The guest speakers were welcomed with bouquets and felicitated by the Dean, MS and Medical Director.
The first session was on introduction to Neonatal Resuscitation by Dr. S. Arun Kumar in which he gave an overview of the latest guidelines on Neonatal Resuscitation.
The second session was started by a lecture - demonstration on the techniques, Do’s and Don’ts of Neonatal Resuscitation by Dr. Rahul Yadav. This was followed by an interactive question and answer session. A post test was administered by Dr. S. Prakash at the end of the lecture session. The average pre – test and post-test scores were 6.27 /10 and 8.58/10 respectively
The third session consisted of hands on training on Newborn Resuscitation which was conducted in skills lab in the hospital. 31 participants were divided into 3 groups. 3 resource persons (Dr. Rahul Yadav, Dr. S. Arun Kumar and Dr. Varun) trained the participants in initial steps, bag and mask ventilation, chest compression and drugs using mannequins.
At the end of this interactive session, Dr. K.N. Karthick Suman Nath delivered the vote of thanks and CME came to end with National Anthem.
