We also show them and explain the features and Medico- Legal importance of all specimens weapons, poisons, plants etc. Training is given for OSPE too. We valuate their Practical Records meticulously and include the record marks in IA marks.

Periodically we conduct Seminars and symposia for small groups on different topics also

We conduct CME atleast once every Academic year and last year`s CME on Current Medico- legal Issues was conducted on 12.08.2015., the topics being,

  • Collection of Medico- Legal evidences in living individuals,
  • Refusal in treatment of Medico- Legal cases in Private Health Sector,
  • Examination of sexual assault victim – as per recent guidelines.
  • Euthanasia.

Head of the Department and three speakers from outside spoke and it was a grand success.

Since we donot undertake Post Mortems and Medico – legal cases Examination like Sexual Offence Cases, Age estimation cases etc. we have a tie up with the Govt. Chengalpattu Medical College for training the students in these areas. We used to take students in groups there and get them trained.

To conclude, when we send the students out of our Department after a period of 18 months they are trained so well that they can attend to any Medico- Legal work without fear, fright or hesitation.
