The word \u2018yoga\u2019 derives from Sanskrit and means to \u201cjoin or to unite,\u201d symbolizing the union of body and consciousness. Patanjali, considered father of Yoga wrote Yoga sutras, which is a collection of ideas on yoga, consciousness and human condition.<\/p>\n<p>Prime Minister NarendraModi first introduced the proposal in his address during the opening of the 69th session of the General Assembly in September 2014. The draft resolution establishing the International Day of Yoga was proposed by India and endorsed by a record 175 member states. Recognizing its universal appeal, on 11 December 2014, the United Nations proclaimed 21 June as International Yoga Day.<\/p>\n<p>The second International Yoga Day observation at Tagore Medical College Hospital aimed to raise awareness of the manifold benefits of practicing yoga and also provide a platform for demonstrating the various asanas to motivate the younger generation to take up yoga as a life style habit.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Venue: College Auditorium Third Floor<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Program Schedule is as below<\/p>\n<p><center>[table id=134 responsive=scroll\/]<\/center><\/p>\n<p>The Program started with the lecture on <b>\u2018Benefits of Yoga\u2019<\/b> by Dr. Bhaktha Reddy, Advisor MEU, TMCH who shared with the participants the immense benefits of practicing yoga repeatedly, regularly and consistently. He also elucidated on <b>EIGHT STEPS OF YOGA<\/b>, which was very enlightening to the participants.<\/p>\n<p>This was followed by a ten-minute session of <b>\u2018guided meditation\u2019<\/b> or <b> DHYANA <\/b> performed under the instructions of Dr. Sethuraman who is a life coach for management of chronic diseases through meditation and yoga. He enabled the participants through the steps of meditation and participants were filled with energy for performing the yogaasanas. He also clarified on many questions raised from the participants.<\/p>\n<p>International yoga teacher trainer Mr. Kalaimani, shared his experiences with practice of yoga and <b>\u2018demonstrated various yoga asana\u2019swith instructions <\/b>to the participants. He started with pre-asana exercises and followed it up with various asanas including Surya Namaskara for about 45 minutes.
