The department aims to give a holistic view of Physiology as relevant to the practice of medicine, with particular focus on must-know areas as specified by the Medical Council of India and The TN Dr MGR Medical University.<\/p>\n
Facilities :<\/strong><\/p>\n We have well-qualified and experienced teachers to guide the students in theory and practicals and also adequate non-teaching staff to ensure smooth conduct of departmental work.\u00a0 There are five fully-equipped laboratories in the department \u2013 Clinical, Hematology, Amphibian, Mammalian and Research laboratories \u2013 for training students in the requisite skills. Equipments include polygraph, physiograph, Computerized Pulmonary Function Testing, etc.<\/p>\n There is a well-stocked departmental library having the latest editions of all standard books in common use and also select titles for special reference by the faculty.\u00a0 We also have departmental computer facilities with internet connection for online journal browsing.<\/p>\n Assessment :<\/strong><\/p>\n Assessment consists of multiple and periodic formative assessments both in theory and practicals throughout the academic year and a final summative assessment at the end of the first MBBS course.<\/p>\n Post graduate teaching<\/strong> will commence shortly and we are fully equipped for the same.<\/p>\n In keeping with the Vision <\/strong>of our Chairperson to make Tagore Medical College an institution of excellence, we constantly endeavor to improve the various activities in our department by encouraging regular feedback from students, parents and staff and acting on their suggestions.<\/p>\n [wc_tab title=”HOD Profile”]<\/p>\n Dr Preetha Paul<\/strong><\/p>\n Dr. Preetha Paul, MD, ACME<\/p>\n Professor & Head,<\/p>\n Dept of Physiology,<\/p>\n Member \u2013 Medical Education Unit,<\/p>\n Phase I Academic Coordinator,<\/p>\n Tagore Medical College & Hospital.<\/p>\n \n Prof. Dr. Preetha Paul brings passion and innovation to the teaching of Physiology. \u00a0She believes in learner-centric teaching and is a proponent of \u00a0interactive teaching methods and small group teaching. She has delivered invited lectures in various CME programs.
